Go to the Download Software page by clicking the "Download" entry in the table of contents on the left.
When you click on "Download Yeah Write 32 bit for Windows 95/98/ME//NT/XP" or "Download Yeah Write 32 bit International Version," you should see a dialog box asking you where you want to save the download file on your hard disk. If you don't see a dialog box, try holding down the Shift key when you click on a download site. Be sure to note the location on your hard disk where the file will be saved and the name of the download file (yw32.exe), then click Save.
Note: If you have a 28.8K modem, the download will normally take about 6-12 minutes. If you have a 14.4K modem, the download will take about 12-18 minutes.
Note: If you cannot download the software for one reason or another, we can send you a CD. The charge via mail anywhere in the US or Canada is $10.00 USD plus $2.00 shipping. To request this, please send an email to info@wordplace.com.
If you are using Windows 95 or later: Select "Start | Run". Then:
The Run dialog requires the name of the program.
If you remember where the download file was saved and the name of the download file, type in the location of the file and the filename.
OR, you can click "Browse", which lets you search for YW32.EXE.
With the correct location/filename in the Run dialog box, click OK to run the install program.
The install program will ask you where to install the program (C:\YW\ is suggested) and a program group (Yeah Write is suggested). Once you enter the locations (normally you will use the suggested locations), the installation program should continue and then display a message reporting a successful installation. When you see the message, click OK. (If you are using Windows 95, you may want to create a shortcut on your desktop at this time. You do this by right clicking on the Yeah Write icon--the green W in the program group on your screen, and dragging the icon anywhere on the desktop. Then let up on the right click button, and click "Create Shortcut Here." With the short cut on your screen, you can close the program group and start the program by double-clicking on the shortcut.)
In Windows 95 or higher: Click "Start", then the "Programs" folder, then the "Yeah Write" folder, and finally the "Yeah Write" program (or double-click on the shortcut).
The Yeah Write Help Section was written in a program called Windows Help. However, this Windows Help program is no longer included automatically with the Vista version of Windows. To view the Help Section of Yeah Write, users must now download WinHlp32.exe from the Microsoft Download Center, and then install it on their computers. To do this, users should visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82148.
Is it possible to insert graphics or images into Yeah Write documents?
Unfortunately, Yeah Write does not support graphics. Yeah Write was written in such a way that it would completely change how the program works to be able to insert graphics.
Why can't I get the email feature to work?
If your computer does not connect
to the Internet, or if you do not have an SMTP server address, Yeah Write
cannot send an e-mail message. Many SMTP servers do things to prevent
a non-standard e-mail program from working. For example, your server
may require authentication, or it may require that you get your mail before
you can send mail. Yeah Write seems to work with about 50% of the SMTP
servers. Unfortunately, we don't the programmers or the resources to
investigate why some work and other don't.
Is there an easy way to transfer all of my Yeah Write documents to another computer?
An easy way to transfer or back-up your documents is by going directly to where the documents are stored on your C Drive:
1. Go to your Yeah Write folder on your computer called YW found at C:/YW.
2. Save all of the drawer folders and your backup folder onto a floppy disk or CD.
3. On the computer you wish to transfer your documents find the YW folder again on your C Drive found at C:/YW.
4. Replace the drawer folders with your drawer folders that you saved on a disk or CD.
5. Start-up Yeah Write, all of your documents should be there.
Note: If you have already created documents on your new version of Yeah Write, I would move them to other drawers so they are not erased when you replace drawers.
What are the main differences between Regular Drawers and Kids Drawers?
The regular drawer and the kids
drawer have different documents, as seen below:
